Pet Appreciation Post

How great are pets? I mean, really, I don't think people realize how helpful having a pet is when you're dealing with mental health issues. Not only are they amazing companions, but their ability to sense when their person is hurting is incredible.

I have had pets my whole life. Most recently, my future and I adopted a sweet, six month old kitten. He is so incredibly affectionate, sweet, playful and just cute. He's also got a bit of a wild side, though my future would say it's more than a "bit". Either way, I've honestly been happier lately and felt less anxious. Every day, as soon as I wake up and come out to see him, he falls down at my feet and cuddles my toes. When I get home from a long day of work, he'll cuddle up on my chest and continuously nudge his head against my forehead. For having as much energy as he does, he's incredibly relaxing for me.

I also had another kitten. Unfortunately, after a pretty abusive relationship ended, I was without my kitty. As much as I deserved my furbaby, it wasn't worth it for me to pursue him unfortunately. Aside from cats, I've always had dogs growing up. Throughout my childhood, or the lack thereof, I always struggled with anxiety and depression. At 15, I ended up in the hospital. My dogs? Two of them, especially, knew whenever something was wrong with me. One of them would sleep literally curled around my head throughout the night or whenever I was laying in bed, unable to get up.

The incredible ability animals have to protect, comfort and love their humans is absolutely amazing. I have seen so many wonderful people share their amazing animal stories. They're so uplifting and just adorable.

I know this was a shorter post, but I just wanted to share some pet appreciation that I have. Feel free to leave some cute pet stories in the comments! Also, I'm considering creating t-shirts for you guys to buy. I will be making a test one for myself and will share with you when finished. If you have any thoughts, opinions or ideas for t-shirts, or other merchandise, let me know!!

For those of you who have read "Toxic People Part 1," I've got Part 2 in the works right now. Stay tuned! Stay strong! As always, reach out to me if you need anything.

Love, Aylin
